Inspiration
Helping people get back into life has been the focus of CARES since 2005. The inspiration came while working at a local hospital helping ladies recovering from Breast Cancer. Starting the first lymphedema clinic was challenging but the reward came as the patients regained strength, mobility and control of their lymphedema. Being able to provide for the unique needs of the patients we served a solution was needed so they could get the products required for their successful recovery.
CARES started small following much prayer and trust in God.
A brief history
God provided a vision that paved the way for taking a leap of faith and leaving the security of a permanent job at the hospital. In the beginning, there were only two of us. With hard work and dedication, CARES grew and served the community and thousands of people for 20 years. Being the first Free Standing Lymphedema clinic in the Mobile and surrounding areas, inspired others to follow and spread out. In that time, other PTs and OTs were trained and guided in caring for many. There are now CARES former therapists in other clinics in both Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
The mission
The one-stop-shop for mastectomy products, lymphedema management, compression garments, cancer related rehab and traditional physical therapy grew and has helped thousands of people since 2005. In May of 2024, the business model changed somewhat, but the mission has not.
CARES is now affiliated with HealthActions PT. Debra H. Taylor, PT, CLT will continue to train the next generation to provide services to people with lymphedema while providing mastectomy and non-mastectomy fittings to as many ladies as possible. Compression garments are, of course, available for anyone.
